Your dreams belong to you

Your dreams belong to you – you don’t need to explain them to anyone.

Set yourself free to dream as big as you can, as crazy, as juicy, as possible.

Get that wonderful flow that comes from having absolutely no limitations to your goals.

You should not have to explain your goals and dreams and be very careful whom you share them with.

Most people will just tell you it can’t be done, or ask you why you want it!

Then, your logical brain takes over and starts finding reasons, reasons that are very likely to kill your dream before you even dare to take the first tiny step towards it.

My logical brain would have had come up with a 1000 reasons why I wouldn’t be able to become healthy and lose 25 kilos. Why I couldn’t become totally fit, full of energy and happy.

All the conditions were against me; a single mom with three small kids, no time, no help, utterly alone in a foreign country.

I realized I needed to snap out of my depression to be a good mother for my kids. I dreamt up the most amazing body I could think of as a goal. The thought of it then, was so crazy that it made me laugh out loud.

The goal gave me energy; sparks came out in my eyes for the first time in years. I kept it to myself, but made three changes a day stepping towards it.

I quite the cigarettes, I threw away all the alcohol I had in the house, and I totally emptied my refrigerator from all crappy, unhealthy food-  it surely got really empty!

Then, out went all the chocolates and biscuits! The kids were looking at me with horror at first – no candy?

But they loved the fact that I stopped drinking and smoking, so they supported the whole idea of a mom getting healthy.

But let me make it clear, it was not happening in a day – it was a process. Once I got rid of something, it never returned. It got crossed off my list and I went on to the next step and the next, and the next.

I signed up at a gym and I started to workout. I was that a disaster in the beginning! I was red in the face, in worse shape.
Everybody was with their right arm in the air and me, I was with the left! To see myself in the mirror was a horror – big gym trousers and glasses falling off my sweaty red face. I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t even dare to dream of reaching my goal. But I thought if this is going to de-motivate me, I better find some inspiration, so I bought all the motivational books and CD’s I could about how to reach your goal. I listened to them in the car everywhere I went.

One book would have references to another; one CD would make me buy another, constantly motivating me. I ended up taking lessons in personal coaching to really get it, at first just for myself, but it became the best tool helping clients to reach their goals.

Then the results started to show. Oh what a success feeling it was to get my butt into my old skinny jeans!

What a success is was every morning weighting myself and seeing the kilos coming off. If I didn’t see the scale going down I would readjust things for the next day.

I got more and more into nutrition and training, I was reading everything I could get my hands. I started to study, and became a nutritionist.

My passion for training, made me sign up and I  became a personal trainer. I didn’t stop there, I continued to study and became a sport nutritionist, a health coach and I am now taking it a step further in functional medicine.

Why am I telling you all this? To show you how three small things a day can lead you to a whole life change.

You will end up being amazed by just how far you have actually come. It will truly blow your mind.
